# Details of Allowing / Disallowing Collection of Personal data on a License Level

## Collection of Personal Data

Use this article when you need personal data collection disabled at the FileWave license level. When this is disabled at the license level, FileWave Clients cannot collect those inventory fields because the option is no longer available in Client Preferences.

## Changing Data Collection

By default, FileWave can collect personally identifiable inventory data.
FileWave can disable collection of this data globally through your FileWave license. To request that change, customers in North America should email the FileWave Business Office at <usadmin@filewave.com> or call 1-888-345-3928, Option 3. Customers in Europe should email <admin@filewave.com> or call +41 (0) 71-914-30-80.

When data collection is disabled, the following data is not captured, processed, sent to, or stored inside FileWave inventory:

- geolocation data (the device's last reported location in latitude/longitude format)
- application usage data (how long, how often, and when an application has been opened, used, or closed)
- login data (who logged in to a client device and when)

After personal data collection is disabled, FileWave preserves the last submitted geolocation data set. To remove that saved location data, contact FileWave Support. Login data and application usage data are erased from the database after clients receive the new configuration and check in with the inventory server.
