Using an alternate TCP port with App Portal 15.1.0 for iOS/iPadOS (Technical Preview)

What

The Kiosk 2.0 for iOS (Technical Preview) will attempt to communicate with a FileWave server on TCP 443, default API port, but if desired this can be changed.

When/Why

FileWave does not recommend the use of custom ports, to prevent confusion.  This option should only be used if deemed absolutely necessary.

How

The following is an example of how to change the port used to 2322.

Change the example port from 2322 to the chosen port as desired.

  • Edit the following file:
    /usr/local/filewave/django/filewave/settings_custom.py
  • Add the following line:
    KIOSK2_API_SERVER_PORT = 2322
  • Save the file
  • Restart apache with the command:
    fwcontrol apache restart

Digging Deeper

Once the Kiosk setting is altered (using the same port example - 2322), App Portal API requests will act as below:

curl -v -H "Authorization: <apptoken>" 'https://customer.fqdn:2332/filewave/api/kiosk/v1/<UDID>/contents'
