Incident IQ FileWave Asset Integration
Integrating Incident IQ with FileWave
Overview
Incident IQ can integrate with FileWave by using your FileWave server address URL and a FileWave application token. This allows Incident IQ to communicate with your FileWave environment using the appropriate API access.
This article explains where to locate the required FileWave information and how to provide it in Incident IQ.
Requirements
Before beginning, make sure you have:
-
Access to FileWave Central
-
Administrative permissions in FileWave
-
Access to configure integrations in Incident IQ
-
Your FileWave Server Address URL
-
A FileWave Application Token (base64)
Information Required by Incident IQ
Incident IQ requires the following FileWave details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Server Address URL | The FileWave server address used by Incident IQ to connect to your FileWave environment |
| Token | The FileWave Application Token in base64 format |
| Token End Date / Token Expiration Date | A date value required by Incident IQ. FileWave application tokens do not provide an expiration or end date, so enter a customer-appropriate future date according to your organization’s policy. |
Locate the FileWave Server Address URL
-
Open FileWave Central.
-
Go to Preferences.
-
Select Mobile.
-
Locate the Server Address URL field.
-
Copy the server address URL.
This value should be entered into Incident IQ as the FileWave server address.
Locate the FileWave Application Token
-
Open FileWave Central.
-
Go to Assistants.
-
Select Manage Administrators.
-
Select the administrator account that will be used for the Incident IQ integration.
-
Open the Application Tokens tab.
-
Locate Token (base64).
-
Copy the token value.
This token should be entered into Incident IQ as the authentication token.
Configure the Integration in Incident IQ
-
Sign in to Incident IQ with an account that can manage integrations.
-
Navigate to the FileWave integration settings.
-
Enter the FileWave Server Address URL copied from FileWave Central.
-
Enter the Application Token (base64) copied from FileWave Central.
-
If Incident IQ requires a Token End Date, Token Expiration Date, or similar validation date, enter an appropriate future date based on the customer’s internal policy.
FileWave does not provide an end date or expiration date for the application token.
-
Save the integration settings.
-
Test or validate the connection, if Incident IQ provides that option.
Best Practice
For security and auditing, use a dedicated FileWave administrator account for the Incident IQ integration instead of using a personal administrator account.
Grant only the permissions required for the integration to function. This helps limit access scope and makes it easier to manage or rotate the integration token later.
If Incident IQ requires a token end date, choose a date that aligns with the customer’s token review or credential rotation policy. Since FileWave does not supply a token expiration date, this value is used for Incident IQ’s validation or tracking purposes.
Security Notes
The FileWave Application Token grants API access to FileWave through the integration. Treat this token as sensitive information.
