macOS Sonoma and iOS/iPadOS 17 Compatibility with FileWave 15.1

Historical compatibility guidance: This page documents the 2023 transition to iOS, iPadOSiPadOS, and tvOS 17, macOS 14 Sonoma, and FileWave 15.1. Use the current Downloads pages for supported FileWave and operating system versions.

Apple released iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS 17 will be released on Monday,September 18th18, of September.2023, macOS 14 Sonoma wason September 26, 2023, and FileWave released on the 26th of September. FileWave 15.1.0 released on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Generally,FileWave 15.1.0 added management support and features for devices running iOS, tvOS,iPadOS, iPadOSand cantvOS safely be upgraded at any time. FileWave 15.1.0 will bring new management features for these devices.17.

macOS 14 Sonoma

Generally, a new version of macOS requires a new version ofThe FileWave :Server and desktop agentClient andneeded serverthe needs an15.1 update to report properlymacOS theSonoma OScorrectly version,and likewisesupport variousversion-sensitive features likesuch as SIP detection withinin Filesets.

In addition, macOS 14Sonoma introduces changes related tochanged application sandboxing whichin preventa way that required a restart when upgrading a FileWave 15.0 desktop agent or earlier versionsdesktop Client after the operating system upgrade. The preferred sequence was to upgrade without a device restart to complete the upgrade. FileWave 15.1 has been modifiedClient to adapt to these changes, therefore it is then recommended to upgrade to FileWave 15.1 before upgrading to macOS Sonoma.macOS.

    The device might not report its macOS version correctly until the FileWave Client was upgraded to 15.1, you have to know that:
      These devices won't report the macOS version properly until they are upgraded to FileWave 15.1 or newer client.later.
