Column Searching Criteria

WheneverIn weFileWave areAnywhere table views, column search helps you filter the visible list to the records you need. It is useful in alarge particularviews tablesuch view,as Devices, Licenses, Filesets, or other grids where scrolling through the datafull maylist would be quite extensive and perhaps hard to find.  The search tool allows us to temporarily enter search criteria for any table view to quickly find content.slow.

When/Why

AssumeUse forcolumn search when you know one piece of information and need to find the matching item quickly. For example, if a momentuser that we got a call from the field from a customer havingreports an issue with their laptop.  We ask for, and theygives give us,you the asset tag number from the sticker on their laptop, you can search the physicalAsset device.Tag  Quickly finding this devicecolumn in the Devices view isinstead criticalof formanually us in this case, and as long as we havescanning the Assetdevice Tag field in the view then we can quickly search for it using the data filter.list.

How

Below you'll see anThe example ofbelow filtering withinfilters the Licenses view. A Insmall thistest example,environment there aremight only have a few dozen licenses, but in a production environmentenvironments therecan have thousands. Filters are quitesticky likelyfor thousandsthe current view, so theFileWave filterAnywhere becomes quite important.  You'll also note in the belowkeeps that the filters for any view are "sticky" and will remain as a filter in that view until you either change or remove the search criteria.
