Upgrade Processplanning checklist
DownloadReview the chosentarget upgradesrelease notes, Known Issues, and the FileWave Official Version Support Statement before choosing the upgrade path.
Download the required installers from the
FileWave DownloadDownloads Pages.pages. ThisAt willminimum, beplan at the very leastfor the FileWave Server
installer and
the matching FileWave Central
applicationapplication.
Copy
the FileWave
serverServer installer to the server
Copyand the matching FileWave Central installer to a
chosen macOS or Windows
deviceadmin workstation.
LockBefore alllocking devices,
fromconfirm they are not already locked for another reason. Lock the
right click contextual menu 'Lock' (Mobile and Computer devices
canthat beshould lockedpause separatelycontent fromchanges during the
relevantmaintenance clientwindow, View.then Multiple devices may be selected and actioned in one go.)
Runrun an Update
ModelModel.
Run a
current FileWave Server backup. If
thisthe server is a
VM,virtual stopmachine, also take a VM snapshot using the guidance in the full upgrade article; avoid a live snapshot while FileWave services are actively writing data.
Upgrade the FileWave Server
processfirst, following the instructions for the target version's download page and
takethe adetailed snapshotupgrade guide. Include any required server OS updates in the maintenance plan.
Follow upgrade instructions from the download pages matching the installer version, including updating the server OS.
Once completed, instalInstall or upgrade
the matching FileWave Central
applicationapplication, Connectconnect to the upgraded server, and
testverify that the health indicator and a Model Update
are successful.
Unlock
anone example,or two test
devicedevices, confirm they check in and
ensurebehave allas isexpected, wellthen Eithereither testcontinue furthertesting or
once satisfied, unlock
allthe otherremaining devices
necessarythat should resume normal management.
