FileWave Classroom Limitations

Use these FileWave Classroom boundaries when planning class, cart, passcode, department, and app-assignment workflows. They describe FileWave's MDM-created Classroom workflow, not every capability or limitation of Apple's Classroom app.

Current limitations

  • One cart maps to the whole class. FileWave Classroom cannot split one cart between the first 10 students and another cart between the remaining students in the same class.
  • The exact ASM passcode keyboard cannot be selected in advance. FileWave cannot read a person's Apple School Manager passcode type before the user signs in.
  • Classes are not grouped by department. FileWave does not organize Apple Classroom classes into department groupings.
  • Class app deployment remains class-scoped. When an app is assigned to a class, devices used by that class receive the app and users in the class see it. Apps deployed through other FileWave workflows can also appear on those devices, so a device in a cart group may show apps that were not assigned through that class.
