New Features

  • Pre/Post-flight scripts allow to set scripts that should be executed at different stage of the installation of a package (+ ability to get the execution log).
  • Ability to login via LDAP/AD for administrators in the FileWave Admin console.
  • FileWave MDM and server installer are now 1 package.
  • All FileWave data is now on the same postgres database.
    • More consistent behaviour.
    • Better scalability of existing server and mdm installs via the power of postgresql.
  • Client communication can now be passed through boosters if present
    • Avoids to have the server being accessible to the clients directly in bigger networks.
    • Will allow in the future for much better bandwidth usage and advanced caching on the booster at every model update.
  • The Fileset status now shows you information about scripts execution and dependencies.

Downloads

Your existing FileWave Server must be version 10.x or higher before you can upgrade to FileWave 11.x.
Please take a moment to run the Migration Check tool ( http://mc.filewave.com ) before performing your upgrade.

This article contains important information that will help ensure your upgrade runs smoothly.  It is strongly advised that you review this for each release, since new notes or instructions may have been added.

FileWave 11 will require updated backup scripts, please be sure to update these after a successful upgrade.

Upgrading to FileWave 11 will require upgrading your FileWave Imaging Appliance (IVS) to version 4.0 or greater. FileWave 11 servers will not communicate with older IVS installations. The FileWave Engage Server must be version 1.1.0 or greater for compatibility.

VPP

VPP Device Assignment requires that your iOS devices are upgraded to iOS 9 -- creating "VPP Device Assignment" associations to iOS 8 devices may cause loss of user data!

The new feature of VPP app assignment to devices will cause the creation of a VPP user with no organization linked to all MDM Apple devices (iOS and macOS). If you have queries that fetch the VPP users for VPP organization, you'll have to add a criteria "VPP Organization.token name is not null."

It is not recommended to convert all associations from user to device association at once, as Apple limits the number of requests per min. Read more at https://filewave.com/kb/vpp-device-assignment

Location Tracking

The location reporting feature in FileWave is disabled by default.
It is recommended that you verify that this feature is in accordance with your organization’s policies and AUP (Acceptable Use Policy). Notify your end users before activating location reporting, as enabling the feature will prompt for permission to location information.

Installers currently unavailable - A potential issue affecting an extremely small subset of customers has been identified and a fix has been found.

A fix will be published as soon as possible, so we recommend waiting for the new version before upgrading to make sure you will enjoy FileWave 11 without issue. Thank you for your patience.
