Description

Use this recipe when you need to deploy the Adobe AIR runtime to Windows devices with a FileWave Fileset. Adobe transferred AIR maintenance to HARMAN; the runtime download page now identifies Wipro Engineering Connected Services as the provider. Use the linked runtime page rather than older Adobe download links. Before distributing the shared runtime, follow that page's distribution guidance; its free end-user download is not a blanket redistribution permission.

Directions

1. Download the Windows Adobe AIR runtime installer from https://airsdk.harman.com/runtime and compare its SHA-256 checksum with the value published there. Choose the runtime required by your AIR application, not automatically the newest build: the vendor documents a separate legacy WebKit runtime for applications that need it. Test the application with the chosen runtime before wider deployment.

2. Extract and import the AdobeAIR-Installer.fileset.zip into FileWave Central and open it. This Fileset contains the batch wrapper, not the AIR runtime installer. The wrapper starts the installer at the exact path below with the -silent argument and then exits with code 0; it does not wait for the installer to finish or report the installer's final exit status. Test unattended installation with the chosen vendor build, including the no-user-logged-on case if that is how you will deploy it.

3. The vendor download is named AdobeAIR.exe. Before importing it into the C:\Windows\temp folder in the Fileset, rename the installer to AdobeAIRInstaller.exe so it matches the supplied batch wrapper. Confirm the Fileset contains both the wrapper and the correctly named installer.

4. Select the installer, open Get Info → Verification, choose Ignore At Verify (Left Behind), and select Apply as shown below. This setting concerns the delivered installer file; it does not verify that the AIR runtime installed successfully.
   
   

   
   

5. Close the Fileset and deploy it to one test Client before wider deployment. Confirm the expected Adobe AIR runtime version is installed on Windows and launch the AIR application that requires it. Do not treat a successful wrapper script result as proof that installation completed; the supplied wrapper always ends with exit code 0.
