What iOS and iPadOS App Data Does Inventory Report?

FileWave Inventory can report installed-app information from managed iOS and iPadOS devices, within the limits of their enrollment method. Apple MDM does not provide the per-app usage history that a desktop FileWave Client can collect.

Use app inventory to answer which devices have a specific app or which apps a device reports as installed.

Check the enrollment method

On a personally owned device enrolled through Apple User Enrollment, FileWave cannot inventory the user’s personal apps. App information is limited to the managed apps Apple makes available to MDM. This is a privacy restriction, not a failed inventory collection. Before interpreting a missing app as “not installed,” confirm the enrollment method and whether that app is organization-managed. Do not use a User Enrollment app report as a complete list of personal and work apps on the device.

Why the data differs

FileWave manages iOS and iPadOS through Apple's MDM protocol rather than a desktop-style FileWave Client. The MDM inventory response includes installed-app information but does not include these usage metrics.
