Deploy Amazon Kindle for macOS
Choose a deployment method
Amazon currently directs Mac users to the Amazon Kindle app in the Mac App Store. For the simplest update path, use Apps and Books licensing when the app is available in your Apple account. The legacy template Fileset below remains available for environments that must package a separately downloaded Kindle.app.
Do not use the template to redistribute an application unless its license permits your deployment method.
Requirements for the legacy Fileset method
- FileWave Central
- A current, licensed Kindle.app source
- The attached template Fileset and a pilot Mac
Directions
- Download Kindle.app from a current Amazon-authorized source. Amazon's current Kindle for Mac guidance links to the Mac App Store.
- Import the attached legacy template (Kindle-template.fileset.zip) into FileWave Central and open it.
- Drag Kindle.app from
/Applicationsinto the Fileset's Applications folder. - Create a Deployment for a pilot Mac, update the model, and confirm that Kindle launches before expanding the Deployment.
- If the app is removed: users can reinstall a Kiosk-offered app from Kiosk. For an administrator-targeted deployment, use Reinstall Selected Fileset or the equivalent redeployment action, then verify that the app is restored.
