Moving the App Portal Web Clip using the Home Screen Layout Payload

Current App Portal. FileWave now deploys App Portal as an app instead of a Web Clip. The version 2 Kiosk app bundle ID is com.filewave.ios.app.kiosk3.

To place the current App Portal in a Home Screen Layout payload, reference the bundle ID shown above.

Legacy Web Clip workflow. The remaining steps apply only to older environments that still use the Web Clip version of App Portal.

To move the App Portal Web Clip using the Home Screen Layout Payload, locate the URL of the web clip from any iOS device settings:

  • Settings App > General > Device Management > FileWave MDM > More Details

 "Web Clip" as seen below:

Copy the Web Clip address into the Home Screen Layout payload, then replace the device-specific string at the end with %device_id%.

In this example: 

https://demo.filewave.ch:20445/ios/recommended_apps/6a43efb044bb2e8bd19488cc47cfa62a39cdd04

becomes:

https://demo.filewave.ch:20445/ios/recommended_apps/%device_id%

Use the resulting URL in the Home Screen Layout payload instead of an app name. The legacy App Portal Web Clip will then appear in the selected folder.
