Remove from Group

What

Use "Remove from Group" when you want to remove one copy of a device from a manual group without deleting the device from FileWave.

When/Why

This is useful when a device no longer belongs in a specific manual group, or when that group should stop applying deployments to that copy. The device record remains in FileWave, other copies of the same device remain unchanged, and inventory data is preserved.

If the group copy was receiving content through a Deployment, removing the copy removes that group-based assignment path. It does not remove other assignments to the same device: another group or a direct assignment may still deliver the same Fileset. Before removing the copy, review the content it receives through this group and any other paths. Removing the last assignment can trigger content removal, with behavior depending on the Fileset and platform; review Uninstalling Filesets Safely when software, profiles, or app data may be affected. Use "Remove from system" only when you intend to delete the device record from FileWave.

How

Open the intended manual group and confirm the device identity before selecting its copy. Open the (...) action menu and choose "Remove from Group":

Coordinate Update Model to publish the resulting assignment changes. A Model Update commits all administrators' pending work, not just this group change. Confirm the copy is gone from the intended group and that the original device record remains. Use the Device Detail view to review group membership and assigned content. If content removal was intended, verify the device's reported result after it receives the change; a removed group row or a new model number alone does not prove an app was uninstalled.
