Creating Licenses from Filesets

Use a license created from a Fileset to track deployments made through that Fileset. This method uses Fileset Status, not a general inventory search for every copy of the application. It does not measure active application use or establish that installations outside the Fileset have been counted.

For example, if you deploy a trial application to a small pilot group, create a license from that application Fileset and reconcile its counted devices with the intended pilot group. To find matching application installations beyond that Fileset, use inventory-based Manual Licenses instead.

In FileWave Central, open License Management and select New License from Fileset. Name the license, choose the warning threshold, and select the Fileset to track. Add purchase records using the license count your organization actually owns, then select Save.
